Classes offered:

Puppy Hour:
This class is for dogs between 12wks – 6 months. We will be working on very basic obedience such as sit, shake and down; playtime etiquette, how to properly introduce your dog to people & other dogs, and answering any new puppy parent questions. This is a 4 week class that is an hour, once per week. Cost: $75

Beginning Obedience:
This class is for dogs over the age of 6 months. In this class, we will focus on the relationship between you and your dog. Making it strong enough to work through distractions, like the other dogs in the class! 🙂 Some commands we will work on are sit, down, focus, stay/wait, and walking on a loose leash. Even if your dog knows these commands, this is meant to reinforce them in different environments. This is a 6 week class that is one hours, once per week. Cost: $115

Private Lessons:
If you are struggling with home manners or prefer to do training in your own home, I will travel to your home and work with you to try to correct/work on these behaviors. We will do an initial meet & greet at Lucky Pawz North Liberty in order for me to get to know your dog and have an idea of what you are looking to work on. Cost: $75 for an hour session

REQUIREMENTS:
Lucky Pawz k9 Training requires that all dogs are up to date on all their shots. That includes: Distemper/Parvo, Rabies & Bordatella**. We understand that puppies may not be vaccinated with Rabies until they are 4-6 months old.
**Since we are a doggie daycare/boarding providers, we have many dogs that pass through our doors. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bordatella. This is transmitted through saliva & air (via sneezing, close play, etc) Having the Bordatella vaccine does not guarantee that your dog is immune to it. It is kind of like the flu shot for humans. If you have any questions or concerns about this, feel free to reach out to me!

Kristin’s experience:

“I graduated from the University of Iowa with Business Finance in May 2015 and happened to stumble upon the Lucky Pawz manager position. I have always had a love for dogs and this was a great opportunity to start working in the pet industry! I have worked at Lucky Pawz since October of 2015. During my hours here, I have worked with many different dog personalities. With so many different breeds, characteristics & personalities, I have learned what works best with certain situations. I also have been a volunteer at the Iowa City Animal Shelter since September 2016 and work with the adoptable dogs on commands such as sit, down, stay and shake. I have two Jack Russell Terrier’s of my own that I have done many classes with, so I have also experienced what has worked well in those classes. I look forward to working with all of you & your pups!”
